Joyce Cox

Richfield, Utah

Joyce C. Cox, 90, passed away July 25, 2017, at her home in Richfield surrounded by her eight children. She was born December 12, 1926, in Huntington, Utah, to Thomas Franklin and Anna Anderson Cox. She married Blaine R Cox, March 24, 1947, in the Manti LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on August 15, 2006.

Joyce was born the second of six children in a small community surrounded by a supportive and loving extended family. In high school she was involved in numerous activities including serving as senior class president at North Emery High. After graduation, she attended Carbon College in Price. She met and married Blaine and together they were the loving parents of eight children. Joyce’s life was centered around her home and family. She was an excellent seamstress, was thrifty and resourceful, canned their garden produce and was an accomplished homemaker. She and Blaine shared a love of traveling.

Joyce lived a Christ-like life of service. She was a loving, kind and patient mother. She enjoyed and encouraged family get-togethers and had a talent for making each and every family member feel welcomed and loved. Joyce served in the community throughout her life, most recently volunteering in the elementary school, participating in the Humanitarian Center and was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers - Camp Richfield. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, fulfilling her callings faithfully. She served as an extraction worker in Family History for nearly 40 years. She served three missions with her husband, Blaine. Her testimony of the Savior and His restored gospel was evident in both her words and her actions.

She is survived by her children: Gwyn (Jay) Franson, Annette Bradshaw, Mark (Bonnie) Cox, Susan (Richard) Barnett, Beth (Bud) Lethbridge, Laurie (Layne) Huntsman, Jolaine (Dave) Barney, Robyn (David) Higbee; 39 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; brother, Soren Cox; sisters: Annabelle Kagie, Grace Lance, Linda (Reese) Jewkes; and sisters-in-law: Karen Cox and Donna Sitterud.
