Laura Leavitt Nowers, 88, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away August 13, 2022, in Fruit Heights, Utah. Laura was born in St. George, Utah on March 14, 1934, to Lemuel Glen and Florence McArthur Leavitt.

Laura married John “Bob” Robert Nowers on February 26, 1953, in Tucson, Arizona. The marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple on June 25, 1957.  Early in their marriage, they resided in Tucson, Arizona; Las Vegas, Nevada; St. George, Utah; Ely, Nevada; and Delta, Utah.  In 1962, they moved to Richfield, Utah and remained until the time of their passing.  She loved the city of Richfield and getting to know many of the wonderful residents through her employment with Sevier Office Supply and Christensen’s.

Laura’s primary passion in life was caring for her children, grandchildren, and other loved ones.  Her many thoughtful and heartfelt gifts were always accompanied by the most sincere and  loving notes that will be cherished for years to come. She was a fantastic cook and made countless scheduled and impromptu meals for her loved ones.  As a homemaker, she took much pride in keeping her home clean and in order.

Laura was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in multiple Relief Society, Young Women’s, and Primary presidencies. She loved serving with the brothers and sisters in her ward and found some of her greatest satisfaction and meaning in serving the Savior.  Laura loved genealogy and had a deep appreciation for the many sacrifices made by her ancestors in building the church and in settling Utah.  She was an active member and enjoyed participating in meetings of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

Laura was a skilled seamstress and quilter and gifted many quilts to her loved ones.  They will be treasured by the recipients for many years to come. She filled much of her free time with gardening, reading, literature, poetry, and crossword puzzles.

Laura is survived by her children: John (Debbie) Nowers, Marilyn (J.D.) Porter, Aimee (Paul) Ellis, Kenneth (Julie) Nowers; daughters-in-law: Lisa Carroll, Angela Nowers; son-in-law, John Hicks; her siblings: Robert (Virginia) Leavitt and Carol Gubler; sister-in-law, Carol Leavitt; brother-in-law, Dale Ure; 22 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
