Debra Lee (Stoddard) PollockDecember 20, 1952 ~ September 26, 2017 (age 64)
Debra Lee Stoddard Pollock, age 64, passed away in her home on September 26, 2017 after a valiant 19-year battle with cancer. She was born December 20, 1952 in St. Anthony, Idaho to Frank H. and Donna Hall Lloyd Stoddard.
Growing up in Grace, Idaho, Debbie enjoyed horseback riding, every aspect of farming, spending time out in the fields with her dad, and herding cows to Blackfoot Reservoir on horseback. In high school, Debbie was part of the cheer team, she and her debate partner took 6th overall in the state of Idaho, and she loved playing softball with a very successful church team. She graduated from Grace High School as the Salutatorian in 1971.
She then attended BYU where she graduated in 1975 with a major in English and teacher education as well as psychology. Debbie started her first teaching position at San Juan High School in Blanding. There she met Royce Pollock, the love and hero of her life. They were married in 1978 in Grace, Idaho and later solemnized in the St. George Temple. Shortly after, Debbie took a teaching position in Panguitch where they made their home and raised their three sons.
Debbie was passionate about public education teaching English for 33 years. She loved her students and believed in their potential and goodness. She served as Garfield Education President for 14 years and served on the Utah Education Association Board of Directors for two years.
Debbie was always involved in community service and service in the church. Here she held various callings, her favorite being Gospel Doctrine. Debbie also had a love and passion for family history and indexing for the church. She also found great satisfaction in being an arbitrator for family history.
She loved her family with her whole heart. Especially her six grandchildren whom she spent countless hours teaching them to garden, explore, collect rocks, feed the birds, and whatever else their imaginations came up with.
Besides her family, Debbie’s life was centered around service to others, a trait she claims to have learned from her parents. She hopes she has taught us all to love and serve others.
She is survived by her husband, Royce; sons: Trevor (Callie) Pollock, Joshua (Hailie) Pollock, and Cody (Chelsea) Pollock; grandchildren: Sadie, Judson, Hendriks, ChezLee, Carter and Crue; brother: Curtis (Jane) Stoddard.
