Emmi Susanna Andersen, age 86, passed away April 24, 2019 in Richfield from complications of an injury. She was born February 19, 1933 in Deitzenbach, Germany. A daughter of Martin and Susanna Kloessmann. She was the oldest of three daughters, Erika Zimlich and Inga Kloessmann. She was raised in Germany during WWII when times were hard. After graduating school she worked as a secretary for a shipping company in Frankfurt.
Emmi met her husband of 59 years, Steve C Andersen, of Central Valley who was stationed in the army while she was helping a friend who owned a tavern in Frankfurt, Germany. They were married in Basel, Switzerland in 1960. Soon after they moved to California where both children, Cheryl and Kent, were born. The family moved to Central Valley in 1976.
Emmi loved the outdoors and scenery which she watercolor painted whenever she and her fellow painters could. Because she was an avid artist she helped organize the Sevier County Commissioner’s Art show for many years. She was a gardener and took care of the sheep herd from feeding to birthing lambs. She ran a floor covering business from the building in the back yard and did general accounting for various family businesses during her life. She loved the beach and traveling.
As a grandmother, she spent a lot of her spare time with her two grandchildren, Tiffany Peterson and Kevin Andersen, whom she loved dearly.
She is survived by her husband, Steve; children: Cheryl Andersen and Dave Goodin, Stevenville, MT; Kent Andersen and Julia Gibson, Kurtistown, HI; grandchildren, Tiffany (James) Peterson, Kevin Andersen; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters: Erika (Franz) Zimlich, Inga Kloessmann; nephew, Ralf Zimlich; and niece, Carmen Zimlich. She is preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Stephan Zimlich.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the Magleby Mortuary, 50 S. 100 W. Richfield.
