Gordon L. Rasmussen, 92, passed away June 29, 2019 in Richfield. He was born July 12, 1926 in Richfield to Joseph Lewis and Hazel Erickson Rasmussen. He married Y’Ora Gene Nielsen March 28, 1948 in Las Vegas. She preceded him in death February 20, 2013.
Gordon volunteered to serve in the Navy, forgoing his senior year of high school, and proudly served his country during WWII. He was a volunteer fireman and served as the chief of the Orem Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. His hobby was horse racing. He trained and raised several horses. Some of his best times were spent at the track with friends and family. He also enjoyed swimming, playing pool and dogs.
Gordon loved his family. His eyes lite up every time he saw his grandchildren. His grandchildren remember him singing, telling them stories, and teasing them.
He is survived by his children: Greg (Terri) Rasmussen, Marysvale; Judy Jensen, and Karen Rasmussen, both of Joseph; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. He is also preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Arlis Jensen; siblings: Donna (Frank) Vayo, Candace (Les) Gardner, Fay Rasmussen, Marjorie (Alec) Vacher, Calvin Rasmussen, Carol Nebeker.

Cremation services will be held. Memorial services will be Friday, July 5, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Magleby Mortuary, where friends may call from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery with military honors by the Navy honor guard and V.F.W.
