Margean Cowles Schow, 94, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2022 at her home in Escalante. She was born August 28, 1927 to Daniel Henry and Orilla Liston Cowles in Salt Lake City, Utah. She married Daniel Vernon Stowe on September 7, 1945. They had 3 children, 10 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Her husband passed away in a car accident on the Boulder road, May 26, 1975. She married Ellis Gleave Coleman on August 28, 1976. Following his death, she married Evan Monroe “Dick” Schow on September 15, 1978. He also preceded her in death.

She lived a wonderful life of service to her family and to her Heavenly Father. Margean was the secretary to the Primary, Young Women’s, and Relief Society organizations.  She was a member of the Escalante Utah Chapter of the DUP. She worked as a store clerk for many years at the local grocery stores, sewing plant in Henrieville, and as a teller at the local bank. She loved crossword puzzles, reading, and was passionate about crocheting and quilting. She loved going on trips with her sister Twila, old western shows, old country music, playing cards, gardening. She was known to be an avid weed killer! She always had treats for the many children who came to her home. She loved spending time with her family on the Escalante Desert especially at Easter time. The most important thing to her was having her family around her.

She is survived by her 3 sons: Ronald (Sidney) Stowe, Taylorsville; Stanley (Marlene) Stowe, Escalante; and Layne (Debby) Stowe, Escalante; sister, Emma Lou McInelly; brothers: Alvin Cowles and Newell (Dorothy) Cowles; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands; grandson, Jason Stowe, great-grandchildren: Bowdy Stowe, Lilly Stowe, and great-great-granddaughter, Olivia Killary; sisters: Twila (Johnny) Michelangelo, Colleen (Glen) Imlay; brothers: Leon Cowles, Orville (Lucille) Cowles;  sister-in-law, Joanne Cowles, brother-in-law, Wells McInelly.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Escalante Stake Center Chapel. The viewing will be at 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Escalante Cemetery.
