Listen to Obituary

Alicia Dawn Mills McKinlay passed away on November 29, 2025, in Provo, Utah, surrounded by her beloved family.

She was born on March 19, 1949, in Richfield, Utah, to Rhea Parsons and Floyd Mills.

Alicia enjoyed a joyful childhood in Monroe and Joseph, surrounded by her Parsons and Mills cousins. She loved taking drives through the places she grew up, sharing stories of life on her dad’s farm and the backroads of Monroe. She considered herself richly blessed to have been raised among such wonderful cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents.

Alicia graduated from South Sevier High School in 1967, where she was a proud Ram and an enthusiastic cheerleader. After attending cosmetology school, she worked in various departments at the grocery store in Richfield. She treasured the friendships she made with her coworkers and the people in her community.

On September 17, 1971, Alicia married her high school sweetheart, Brent McKinlay. Together they were blessed with four daughters—her greatest accomplishments and her closest friends. Alicia adored her eight grandchildren and spoke of them to anyone who would listen. She loved cheering them on at their sporting events and quickly became one of the Wildcats’ most devoted fans.

Alicia had many talents and passions. She loved playing the piano, planting and nurturing beautiful flowers, and decorating her home. Christmas was her favorite season, and she took great pride in her beautiful Christmas trees. She was a dedicated, hardworking woman who rarely sat still. A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many callings, including Relief Society President and in the Stake Relief Society. She also loved working in Primary, especially in the Center Street 8th Ward.

Alicia is survived by her devoted husband, Brent, and their daughters: Patricia McKinlay; Hollie (Nathan) Curtis; Kamie (Kirk) Kelsey; and Ann Alicia (Austin) Somers, all of Richfield. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Jackson and Jess Curtis; Kaylen, McKinlay, and Emilia Kelsey; and Camden, Kash, and Hazel Somers. Additional survivors include her brother, Jon (Jennifer) Mills of Oklahoma, and sister-in-law Cecilia McKinlay of Salt Lake City. She was preceded in death by her parents and by brothers-in-law Scott McKinlay and Allen McKinlay.

Alicia spent her life lifting others and spreading happiness wherever she went. Her greatest joy was her family; nothing pleased her more than hearing them laugh and seeing them enjoy life. Her family feels profoundly blessed to have been loved by her and will miss her dearly. They are grateful that she will get to spend Christmas with her parents and grandparents this year.

Alicia and her family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Zion’s Way Home Health for their compassionate care over the past few months, and to Dr. Jesse Spencer for his dedicated support and kindness.
