Listen to Obituary

Almon Duncan Fullmer, better known as Umm to his friends and family, passed away June 25, 2025 in Gunnison Utah, at the age of 82.

Umm is survived by his wife of 41 years, Debra (McArthur) Fullmer, his children Shannon Fullmer, Teresa Dutson, Sherri Asnicar, Shane Fullmer, Tony Hancock, Cole Fullmer, James Fullmer and Jesse Fullmer, his sisters Carol Kelleher and Lois Vietti, and brothers Oliver Fullmer, Oscar Fullmer and Ronald Fullmer as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his older brother John Fullmer, and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was born in 1942 in Los Angles, California to Almon Duncan Fullmer Sr. and June (Beck) Fullmer. He moved to Utah as a very young child and despite moving a lot throughout his life, Umm always considered Abraham, Utah to be his home. He married Dian Cahoon in 1963 and together they had four children. This marriage ended in divorce but a few years later, Umm met Deb, the love of his life. They were married in 1983 in Delta. They built a family together. In a journal entry, Umm wrote that the craziest thing he ever did was to remarry at the age of 40 and start another family, but that he wouldn’t change a thing. He and Deb lived in the Delta area, on the River Bed ranch and Nephi, before moving to their home in Gunnison Utah in 1992 .

Umm was a hard worker and held a variety of jobs throughout his life including construction work, mining, and farming. He drove truck for many years, for dozens of companies, and over millions of miles. He still drove full time until the age of 75.

Umm was big man with a personality to match. He always had a joke to tell and never seemed to forget a single one. He loved to talk to people and could strike up a conversation with anyone he met.

He always loved to go camping and was an avid hunter in his younger years. In later life, he also enjoyed woodworking, reading and journaling. His favorite way to spend his time, by far, was sitting around with his family and friends and telling stories, some of them completely true!

Umm did not want a big funeral. Instead, a celebration of his life will be held at the Old Stone Church in Centerfield, Utah on Saturday, August 16th, 12:00-2:00. Lunch will be provided and attendees are encouraged to share their favorite stories of him.

Umm chose cremation and, at a later date, his ashes will be spread on Desert Mountain, on the west desert that he so dearly loved.
