She was the youngest child of 10; born to Parlan and Grace Leavitt Carter. She lost her brother Garth in World War II when she was only 11. She lost her father early and her mother at age 106. It is appropriate that she passed on her mother's birthday. She was proud of her LDS heritage. She married Richard J. Hooper in the Manti temple.
Anna loved the Lord. She and Richard built their home in West Kaysville and brought their children up with church, prayer, and good work ethic. She held many positions in the 6th Ward. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She was an Avon representative. She loved gardening, floral arranging, canning, and music. She taught us to explore through water skiing, hunting, fishing, and even snowmobiling. She quickly made friends wherever she went. She loved history. She was a beautiful quilter with the tiniest stitches. She enjoyed genealogy.
Anna served as class secretary at South Sevier High School where she graduated. She attended most of her class reunions until travel became too difficult. She moved to Lava Hot Springs in 1969 owning and managing the Home Hotel.
She married Russell “Dutch” Nelson and divorced in 1975. She served at Bannock County Museum and Lava Hot Springs Hot Baths . She loved to treat her grandchildren to the pools.
She is survived by two daughters: Debbie Ashley, Soda Springs, ID; and Marianne (Don)
Jerome, Toledo, OR; and many grandchildren.
Her love, Melvin Frandsen was her closest friend. Her favorite holiday was spent with him on a trip to Alaska. Their last trip together was visiting the Oregon Coast in 2015. She loved her dogs. They gave her so much companionship especially after Melvin’s death. Anna was the last of her siblings to pass. She loved her family dearly. She bore 6 children. She was preceded in death by Glen Ray and Richard Craig, along with her infant children: Paul and Clair.
