Arda Turner

March 6, 1920 — May 12, 2011

Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend returned home peacefully to her Heavenly Father on May 12, 2011, in Monroe. She was born March 6, 1920, in Monroe, Utah, to Harold Peter and Ruby Huetta Winget Oldroyd. She married Sherman White Turner on August 22, 1946, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on March 4, 1992.

Arda completed her schooling for nursing and anesthesia in Salt Lake City. She worked at the Richfield Hospital for nearly 50 years. She participated in over 22,500 separate surgeries, 8,000 of which were baby deliveries. She served her church in many capacities including serving a mission to Germany, Cove Fort and in the Manti Temple. She loved her family dearly and was always trying to get us together.

She is survived by her children Kent (Nancy) Turner, New Harmony; Judy (Tom) Simper, Cedar City; David (Ruth) Turner, West Valley City; Karen (Layne) Rosequist, Las Vegas, NV; Terry (Kim) Turner, Roxboro, NC; and Connie (Bradey) Carson, Richfield; 26 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren; sister, NaDean (Harold) Beckstrand, Meadow; and brother-in-law, Con Hatch, Cedar City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherm; grandson, Jed Simper; great-granddaughters, Georgiana Singleton, Alexa Rosequist and Hailey Rosequist; sister, Elva Hatch and brother Hal Oldroyd.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 20, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. in the Richfield 5 th LDS Ward Chapel, 500 East 800 North, Richfield. Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary in Richfield on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m and at the ward chapel on Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery.
