Betty Harris

September 16, 1932 — August 9, 2011

Celebrating the life of Betty Pope Harris, 78, who passed away August 9, 2011, in Provo with her family by her side. She was born September 16, 1932 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, the fifth child of William A. and Essie Shupe Pope. She married Warren J. Harris December 21, 1950 in the Manti LDS Temple.

She is survived by her husband and children; Susan (Stanley) Baldwin, Richfield; Jeannie (Jim) Puzey, Richfield; Carma (Doug) Olsen, Fullerton, CA; Anita (Duane) Kimber, Morgan; Lisa (Phillip) Burr, Burrville; Jay (Laraine) Harris, Richfield; DoriAn (David) Campbell, Wellsville; Troy (Melina) Harris, Hernando, Mississippi; Kirk (Nancy) Harris, Richfield; Kris (Wendy) Harris, Vernal; 51 grandchildren and 75 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Bill (Marjorie) Pope, NM; David (Ann) Pope, Price; Marjorie (Richard) DeLong, AZ; Gordon (Irene) Pope, WA; Diana (Merwin) DeWitt, AZ; and sister-in-law: Ann Pope, Orem.

Preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Kerri Harris; great-grandson, Taylor Sage Baldwin; and brother, Stanley Pope.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Richfield 16 th Ward Chapel, 800 North 500 East. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. in the Magleby Mortuary and Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the ward chapel. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.

Betty served three missions: Southwest Indian Mission, Papua New Guinea Port Marseby Mission and the Washington Tacoma Mission. She also served faithfully in numerous ward and stake callings. Betty was very creative; she designed their home and had lovely flower gardens and yards. She loved to paint and to do ceramics. Her great joy was her family and the gospel. To date, 29 missions have been served by Betty, Warren and their posterity.
