In Loving Memory of Boston Randy Childs
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our precious son, Boston Randy Childs, who passed away in a motorcycle accident on June 29, 2026, at the age of 18.
Boston was born on January 15, 2008, surprising everyone by arriving on his Grandpa Childs' birthday. From that moment on, he became the greatest birthday gift Grandpa could have ever received and one no one could ever hope to top. From his very first day, Boston filled the lives of those around him with joy, laughter, kindness, and love. Though his life was far too short, the love he shared and the lives he touched have left an imprint that will last forever.
Boston was the cherished son of Craig and Tanae Childs and the devoted brother of Keaton and Kingston Childs. Anyone who spent time with their family could immediately see the deep love they shared. The Childs family wasn't just close, they genuinely loved being together. Boston and his brothers were a band of brothers in every sense of the phrase, always looking out for one another, making each other laugh, and creating memories that will be treasured forever. Craig and Tanae lovingly guided their boys with faith, compassion, and unwavering devotion, creating a family bond that will never be broken.
Boston had one of the biggest hearts of anyone who knew him. His love was as big as he was. Though he stood tall physically, it was the size of his heart that people remembered most. He loved deeply and completely, and the people he cared about never had to question where they stood with him. He was fiercely loyal to his family and friends, always willing to stand beside them, encourage them, defend them, and make sure they knew they were loved.
He had an incredible sense of humor and could make almost anyone laugh. Boston loved to joke around, tease those he cared about, and brighten every room with his smile and playful spirit. He never took life too seriously and was always ready for the next adventure. Whether it was a spontaneous road trip, trying something new, spending time outdoors, or simply making unforgettable memories with the people he loved, Boston embraced life with enthusiasm and joy. Time spent with Boston almost always ended with sore cheeks from laughing and memories that would last a lifetime.
As a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Boston sought to live with faith, compassion, and service. He loved his Savior and eagerly looked forward to serving a mission for the Church in Chile. Although he will not serve that earthly mission, we find peace in knowing that his work is not finished. We believe he now serves a greater mission as one of Heavenly Father's angels, continuing to love, serve, and bless others beyond the veil. Though we grieve his absence, we take comfort in knowing that his willing heart and faithful spirit continue in God's service.
One of Boston's greatest passions was baseball. Whether he was on the field, practicing, competing, or cheering on his teammates, he loved every part of the game and the friendships it brought into his life. Baseball reflected the way he lived; he gave his whole heart, worked hard, lifted those around him, and never backed down from a challenge. His determination, sportsmanship, and love for his teammates made him someone others naturally wanted beside them.
Boston's greatest gift wasn't found in what he accomplished, but in who he was. He had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcome, valued, and loved. Friends quickly became family to him, and he formed lasting connections wherever he went. He loved without hesitation, forgave freely, and gave generously of his time, his laughter, and his heart. The countless lives he touched are proof that a meaningful life is measured not by its length, but by the love that fills it.
Boston was preceded in death by his grandfather, Randy Edwards; his grandmother, Catheryn Christiansen Edwards Simmons; his cousin, Audrey Milner; and his uncle, John Milner.
He leaves behind his loving parents, Craig and Tanae Childs; his brothers, Keaton and Kingston Childs; his grandparents; aunts; uncles; cousins; extended family members; and countless dear friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
While our hearts are broken, our faith gives us hope. Through the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, we know that families can be together forever. We trust in Heavenly Father's promise that He sends angels to bear us up, and we believe Boston is now one of those angels. Though we cannot see him or embrace him today, we know this separation is only temporary. Until the joyful day we are reunited, we will honor Boston by loving others as he did, with unwavering loyalty, contagious laughter, genuine compassion, and a heart big enough to make everyone feel at home. His life was a beautiful gift, his love was immeasurable, and his legacy will continue to live on in every life he touched.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday July 7, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gunnison Stake Center. Viewing will be held prior to services on Tuesday at the church from 9:00-10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Centerfield Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina, and Manti
