Brenda Joy Fish Frye, affectionately known as “NEAN,” departed this earthly realm on January 21, 2026, in her cherished home in Sigurd, Utah, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, love, and an indomitable spirit. Born on June 15, 1956, amid the breathtaking landscapes of Huntington, Utah, Brenda grew up with a strong sense of community and a passion for the natural world which she carried with her throughout her life.
A graduate of Huntington High School, Brenda forged a unique path in what many might consider a traditionally male-dominated field. As a heavy equipment operator for L.A. Young Construction and Legrand Johnson Construction, she defied the odds and proved that strength comes both from the body and the heart. Her dedication to her work was matched only by her love for animals and the environment. She found joy in the simple things—a hike through the validating embrace of nature, the thrill of hunting for arrowheads, or the serenity of watching her husband, Shon, fish.
Brenda’s culinary prowess earned her the affection of many, with the title of chief cook and bottle washer at Dave's Country Store in Sigurd. Her cooking brought warmth to the community and highlighted her nurturing spirit, as she mentored countless children who passed through, sharing not just recipes, but life lessons wrapped in kindness.
Brenda enjoyed the marvelous pleasure of family and friends, making memories that will forever echo in the hearts of those who loved her. She shared a close bond with her sister, Susan Moore, and her connections to her late parents, Hugh and Leora Fish, as well as her sisters, Danna Fish and Vickie Elliot, remain a warm glow that carries through time.
NEAN's essence was beautifully multifaceted; her laughter, her skills, and her love for life left an indelible mark on all who encountered her spirit. As she rests in peace, we remember her not just as a woman who worked hard and cooked well, but as a guiding light whose generosity and wisdom enriched our lives. She lived fully, loved deeply, and embraced every moment; her presence will be profoundly missed, but forever cherished.
