Brent S. Blackham “The Magnificent” joined his Eternal companion on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. Brent was born on July 28, 1948, in Moroni, Utah, to Warren and Mabel Blackham. He was given the middle initial “S” by his mother, most likely for her maiden name of Stevens, but Brent was sure it was short for “Studly”. Warren and Mabel moved their two boys, Roger and Brent, to Bountiful, Utah where Warren owned a construction business. After several years of working construction with his dad, Brent was determined to never work for a living, so, in his words, he was going to become a teacher and a coach. He never considered a day spent at the school a job. Teaching was his passion. Brent loved baseball and basketball. He was a Yankees fan until the end. He also rooted for any team playing the Dodgers or BYU.
Brent met the love of his life, Lana Sue Peterson, while attending South Davis Junior High. Brent and Lana were married for Time and all Eternity on May 27, 1969, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Brent was certain he’d have enough boys to create a basketball team. Instead, he and Lana became the parents of the three most beautiful and amazing girls: Brandie, Keri, and Kacy.
Brent graduated from Weber State College with a Bachelor's degree in Zoology and History. He taught and coached in the secondary school system for over 42 years: Park City High, South Davis Junior, Manti High, Mueller Park Junior, Weber Basin Job Corps, and Life Line. Brent lived a life of integrity with a love of learning and Twinkies. He was always prepared with a joke or a sarcastic remark. If he teased you, he loved you.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lana, brothers Roger and Gail Blackham, three infant sons, and great-grandson Knox. Brent leaves behind his three daughters: Brandie (Ryan) Wood, Keri (Rob) Thomson, Kacy (Brett) Wilson, 13 grandchildren: Tyler (Lexi), Kali (Devon), McKenna, Brenton (Tori), Travis (Ashton), Auburn (Ryan), Rafe, Kamera, Ripley, Grayson, Brooklyn, Reese, Boston, and 9 great-grand children: Crew, Kash, Ivy, Jacie, Warren, Beau, Jack, Dawson, and Roux.
