Claudia Ann Burton
Manti, Utah
Claudia Ann Burton, 80, of Manti, Utah, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 2, 1944, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Claudell and Ruby Johnson. As the eldest of eight children, Claudia was a devoted daughter and a great help to her mother, a role that shaped her lifelong dedication to family.
In 1971, Claudia married George Burton. Together, they built a life centered on faith, love and family, raising seven children: Kristyne, Steven, Jeffrey, Matthew, Rachael, Allison, and Timothy. As a military wife, Claudia embraced the challenges and adventures of moving all around the country without complaint, making each new place a home filled with warmth and love.
In 1985, Claudia and her family settled in Willits, California, where she made many dear friends. She found great joy in the community, forming lasting friendships and making a positive impact on those around her.
A devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Claudia’s faith was the foundation of her life. She served in many callings over the years, always with a willing heart and loving spirit. She led by example, putting her family and her beliefs first. Whether she was teaching, serving, or simply offering a kind word, she exemplified Christlike love and devotion in all that she did. Her kindness and strength left an enduring impact on all who knew her.
Claudia had a gift for making people feel loved and valued. She was known for her warm smile, gentle wisdom, and the ability to see the good in everyone. She found great joy in simple pleasures—reading, taking long walks, and spending time with those she loved. In 2018, Claudia was delighted to retire to southern Utah. She spent her final years surrounded by the beauty of the mountains, in the company of family and friends.
Claudia is preceded in death by her parents, Claudell and Ruby, her brothers, Craig and Richard, and two granddaughters, Maggie and Sarah. She is survived by many loving family members, including her husband of 53 years, George; her siblings David (Jane), Mary, Ray (Denise), Linda, and Ronald (Martha); and her adoring children, Kris (Evan), Steve, Jeff (Terry), Matt (Jeanie), Rachael (Irving), Allison (Jared), and Tim (Kathryn). Claudia is also survived by 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, faith, and service will continue in the lives of those she touched.
