Connie Ruth Carter-Peterson-Nielson began her earthly journey on September 21, 1952, she was born to Jim and LaVona Carter in Richfield. She was greeted into their home by her two older brothers: James G. and John Carter. Through the next several years, she helped  welcome Wyonna, LaVona, and LaDell into their family. She loved her siblings and loved reminiscing about their childhood shenanigans. Family was very important to Connie.
Throughout her younger years, she loved spending her summers with her grandma- Grace L. Carter. They spent their time sewing clothes, quilting, needlepoint and cross-stitch sewing, crocheting, cleaning, and canning. She cherished those times while learning skills that she would later perfect and would become the hobbies that she enjoyed. She gifted so many of these treasured items to her family.
As a young girl,  some of her fondest memories were during her travels- as their family would move frequently because her dad worked as a heavy equipment operator- she was able to attend many elementary schools and met a wide range of people. She attended South Sevier High. Later in life, she earned her cosmetology certification, and worked as a beautician for most of her adult life. She met a myriad of people who all loved and appreciated her work.
In September of 1969, she married Chris A. Peterson. They started their family: Chris James, Cynthia Ruth, Corrie Ann, and Cheryl Dawn Peterson. Connie loved her children, and she was a mother figure to countless children throughout the years. She was a second mother to Blaine Bredsguard and Rachel Rasmussen during their high school years. She had a big heart, and she loved BIG. She served whomever she came in contact with throughout her life regardless of their needs.
One of her great loves was animals. She took in any and all strays and fed and cared for them. She was so knowledgeable about horses and spent numerous hours working and playing with her horses. She loved to do yard work and gardening. She had such a green thumb and could make any plant/flower grow regardless of the circumstance. She loved  to can. Her elderberry jam/syrup was definitely her forte. She loved sharing her bountiful harvests. She loved to see people happy.
She married Brent Nielson in 1990 in Las Vegas, NV. They were married for 33 years. During that time, they created a bond of loyalty and love. She strove to create a beautiful home where she frequently had Dutch oven cook outs for family and friends. They loved to camp, hunt, and fish. She was always looking for a deal and loved to yard sale down in Las Vegas. They had multiple fur-babies which she loved and cherished.
Connie returned home to her Heavenly Father on November 15, 2023 where she will continue her eternal journey.
