Craig Harmon

Craig Bruce Harmon, 78, passed away on February 2, 2026, in Richfield, Utah. 

Craig was born August 19, 1948, to Carlos Bruce Harmon and MyrLouise Harmon in Brigham City, Utah. His dad was career army, so Craig was an “army brat” and lived all over the world. First on the island of Guam, post World War II, as a 2-month-old. Other assignments for the family included Japan, Washington DC, Los Angeles, Denver, Honolulu, and finally Tacoma, Washington.

Craig attended Brigham Young University, pursuing a degree in archaeology. There, he met a young lady who also liked to play in the dirt. He married her, Rebecca Ann Kiefer, in the Provo Temple on April 21, 1973. Thus began their life together of many adventures.

Craig earned his MA degree in Archaeology in 1977, after which he was hired by the Richfield District of the Bureau of Land Management as their archaeologist, where he happily spent his career. Craig and Becky welcomed three boys into their family: Jeremy, Matthew, and David. They are also the proud grandparents of six grandchildren: Trayton, Spencer, Drew, JD, Lillian, and Emma.

Without a doubt, the highlight of his BLM career was the last 15 years spent serving as a liaison between the Federal Government and 22 southwestern native tribes. In this role, he met with traditional tribal leaders to identify sacred ancestral sites and protect them from any federal land projects. He made lasting friendships during this time among these traditional tribal members and treasured every moment he got to work with them.

Craig retired in 2012 after 35 years of public service. During retirement years, Craig and Becky really hit their stride of adventure. They were able to white water raft Cataract Canyon of the Colorado, the Grand Canyon (twice), and the San Juan River. They also spent 8 years volunteering for the Forest Service at the Wildcat Information Center on their beloved Boulder Mountain. Craig and Becky were sure that this place on that mountain was the true version of heaven.

Craig is preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and MyrLouise Harmon.  
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, his sons, his grandchildren, his sister, Kim (Dave) Nagle, and his brother, Stephen (Charlene) Harmon. 

A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 12:00 noon in the Richfield 11th Ward Chapel - A FRIENDS AND FAMILY GATHERING will be held at the church prior to services from 10:30-11:30 a.m. - CREMATION SERVICES at the Magleby Mortuary and Cremation Center - FUNERAL DIRECTORS: Magleby Mortuary of Richfield, Salina, & Manti
