Curtis Ray Smith

July 6, 1955 — February 6, 2012

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Curtis Ray Smith, 56, left us way too soon on February 6, 2012 in Salt Lake City, with his wife by his side.

Curtis was born July 6, 1955 in La Mesa, California to Joseph Carr and Barbara Oyler Smith. He grew up with his five brothers and sisters in Southern California and the family eventually moved to Utah where his parents were from originally. Curtis married Marsha McAvoy, October 5, 1979 in Monroe.

In 1999 Curtis started his own business The BugSmith, Inc. The business has been very successful and continues to grow every year. It will continue to grow and be run by his family as he wished.

Curtis loved many things in life including: fishing, cooking, the outdoors, photography, gardening, music and making his yard beautiful. But his greatest love in life was his wife, Marsha, and his family. He was a hard worker and took pride in providing for his family.

Curtis is survived by his wife, Marsha; daughter, Sandra (Brent) Woodside; son, Jesse (Shawny ) Smith; mother, Barbara Smith; brothers, Terry and Joseph Smith; sisters, Pamela Litchford, Barbara Fredrickson and Shelly Bagley; three grandchildren: Brettney and Josie Woodside and Carson Smith; as well as many other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, JC.

For those who knew him and loved him, he will be dearly missed.

Cremation services have been held, according to Curtis’ wishes. Graveside services will be held May 12, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Elsinore Cemetery. Memorial Concert will be held Friday at 8:00 p.m. at Kickers Bar, 900 South Cove View Road, Richfield. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti. Online guestbook at Magleby's as well as on facebook.com/thebugsmith.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in the name of Curtis Smith has been setup at Zion’s bank.
