David Kay Kimball
November 12, 1940 – May 2, 2025
David Kay Kimball, 84, a lifelong resident of Richfield, Utah, passed away peacefully at home on May 2, 2025, after a 10-year battle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy of service, kindness, and dedication to his family, friends and community. Born on November 12, 1940, to Royal and Fern Speakman Kimball, Kay was the younger brother of the late Duane Kimball.
Kay was the Student Body President of Richfield High School and an accomplished athlete, participating in football, basketball, baseball, tennis, and other clubs and organizations. He served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Toronto, Canada, and graduated from Brigham Young University with a Master of Accountancy degree, later becoming a Certified Public Accountant.
On September 4, 1964, Kay married Julie Roberts in the Manti Utah Temple and together they raised a loving family of six children: Brian (Katy) Kimball, Keith Kimball, Kalene (Dale) Eyre, Kari (Ryan) Moynier, Kristi Kimball, and Marci Kimball. Kay was a loving grandfather to 25 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Kay devoted his life to serving others, both in his church and community. He held many church callings, including Bishop of the Richfield 5th Ward, and served a second mission with his wife in Riverside, California. Kay also served on the Richfield City Council for ten years and as Mayor of Richfield for eight years. He was president of the Rotary Club and a Sevier Valley Hospital board member. In 1976, he founded an accounting firm which became Kimball & Roberts, PC, that still serves the community today.
Known for his quick wit, generous smile, and deep love for the outdoors, Kay was an avid hunter and fisherman. He will be remembered for the countless lives he touched with his warmth, humor, and unwavering dedication to doing good.
