DelRita Heaps

DelRita Peterson Heaps, 83, passed away October 1, 2023 at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo. She was born on March 10, 1940 in Gunnison to Max L. Peterson and Mildred Crowther Peterson. She married Thomas Heaps on June 25, 1958 in Axtell.
DeRita graduated from Gunnison High School. She worked as a waitress at Day and Night Café and later worked at the turkey processing plant for many years. Later dedicated her life to raising her family.
A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, DelRita had many different callings during her life. She enjoyed working with the boys in the Scouting program. She was a member of the JCettes doing community service projects. She loved softball, bowling and participated on league teams. Enjoyed doing crafts, artwork and painting holiday yard figurines that her husband made.
She is survived by her husband Thomas; children: Shannon (Tammy) Heaps, Monroe; Tony (Jeannine) Heaps, Monroe; Kim (Paul) White, LaVerkin; Ricky Heaps, Salina; 7 grandchildren 18 great-grandchildren; and many step-grandchildren; sister: Maxine (Wayne) Carroll; sister-in-law, Merlene Peterson.
Preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Ellis Peterson.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 12, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Salina Stake Center. Friends may call at the stake center in Salina Wednesday from 6-7 p.m. or Thursday morning from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Salina Eastside Cemetery.
