 Dorothy Ence
Richfield, Utah

Our dear sweet mother, grandma, great-grandma, sister and aunt, Dorothy Ann Dastrup Ence, 80, left this mortal existence on March 15, 2023 in Monroe.  Dorothy was born on a warm fall day, September 30, 1942, in Salina, the beautiful daughter of Nelo and Karol Kane Dastrup. She spent her childhood and early years on the family farm in Sigurd and loved to spend her summers with her grandpa and grandma Dastrup on the family ranch at Grass Valley.
At the age of 10, she was stricken with polio, which set in motion many weeks and months in the hospital and a life long battle with her health. What an example of grace and strength she has been to all who has known her. She fought through many limitations and accomplished so many things in her life.
While in high school, Dorothy tried out for her first beauty pageant. She went on to be crowned the Utah State FFA Queen and later in college, she was crowned Miss Flame.  She was so proud of these accomplishments. She graduated from Stevens-Henager College with a BS in Accounting.
She married the love of her life, James Ence, on September 22, 1962, in Richfield. To this union they welcomed two children: Darren James and Cinda Lou. They later became a forever family, May 27, 1980, in the Manti Temple. She was a devoted wife and mother. In later years she cherished every moment she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; attending all the activities she could and loving and supporting them in all they did.  She loved throwing parties on holidays, especially Easter and the 4th of July.
Dorothy was a hard worker and loved her job of 35 years with Utah Power/Pacificorp. Upon retiring she devoted all her time to her family and those around her. She spent thousands of hours helping others and loved her time she spent at the Humanitarian center. She loved making bears and finding them new homes.
Dorothy had a strong testimony of the gospel. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many positions and capacities. She loved serving the Lord and teaching others of Him.
Dorothy was an example of grace, love and beauty to all who knew her. She will truly be missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her children: Darren (Lisa) Ence, Cinda Mason; 5 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; brother, David Dastrup; sister-in-law, Debbie (Terral) Dunn.
Preceded in death by her husband, Jim; parents; son-in-law, Scott Mason; great-grandson, Race Ence; brother, Donald (Renae) Dastrup; sisters-in-law, Karen Dastrup and Beverly Chavis.
