Listen to Obituary

Our beloved Mom, Dorothy Higgins, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2026, at home, surrounded by family. She was born October 2, 1933, to Clair and Lucile Ford, in Richfield, Utah.

She met the love of her life, John Marlin Higgins, in High School at a candy-making party. They married December 15, 1950, just prior to his leaving for Korea. Later, they were sealed as a family in the Manti Temple on July 02, 1963.

She dedicated her life to Christ as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her family and faith were always her priority. She served in several Church callings throughout her life, starting at age 14 when she began playing the piano for meetings. Later, she & Dad served as workers in the Manti Temple, followed by a mission in the Little Rock, Arkansas mission.

Dorothy enjoyed charity work. She served at local and state levels with the Utah Ladies of Elks, doing charity work throughout the state in various communities. She continually donated to the church's missionary and humanitarian funds, as well as the local food bank.

She enjoyed countless camping and fishing trips, or just going for a ride in the mountains. Her greatest talent and passion was music. She was an accomplished pianist, and she especially loved playing Hymns and Christmas music.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her sweetheart Marlin, her parents, and dear friends Norma and Roy Hooper. Siblings: Wayne Wells, LaVar and Terene Ford, Diane & Tom Dix, Pat Ford and Paul Jarvie. 1 son-in-law, 2 grandsons, 1 great-grandson.

She is survived by her children: Debbie (LaVell - deceased), Barney, David (Betty) Higgins, Greg (Sheila) Higgins, Nanette (Philip Kent) Rose, Claire Higgins (David Choate), Teresa (Zen) Majors, 42 Grandchildren, 78 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren.
