Dorothy "Dottie" Camille Smith

Dorothy "Dottie" Camille Davis Smith, 95, passed away February 5, 2011 in Monroe. She was born October 12, 1915 in Palestine, Texas to Milton Kaskey and Evelyn Veal Strong Davis. She married Jessie Baird "JB" Smith January 10, 1932 in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. The marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple, April 2, 1954. He preceded her in death January 17, 1994.

Dottie was a best friend to all. She exemplified southern charm . She never missed an opportunity for a hug and a kiss, or an opportunity to take chocolates when chocolates were passed. Chocolate was her signature fragrance! Her door was always open for a game of cards (Jack Rabbit) and a listening ear. She never met a person who didn’t fall in love with her.

She was an active member of the LDS Church, serving faithfully in her callings. Her favorite callings were always with the children. She and JB served a mission as ordinance workers in the Manti Temple.

Survived by daughters: Ruthie Spreckelsen, Peggy (Clarence) Bartolomei, Jane Berglund Petersen; 13 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers: Sport and Jack Davis; sisters, Eleanor Rice and Pat Freeman; sons-in-law, Carl Spreckelsen and Wayne Berglund; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Monroe 3 rd Ward LDS Chapel, 140 South Main, Monroe. Friends may call at the ward chapel in Monroe Wednesday from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Gunnison Home Health and Hospice through Gunnison Valley Hospital, P.O. Box 759, Gunnison, UT 84734; or the LDS Humanitarian Fund.
