Douglas Shane Erickson

Douglas Shane Erickson, 60, of Circleville, Utah passed away on July 6th, 2026 peacefully in his home.

Shane was born to Douglas and Judith Erickson on March 16, 1966 in Cedar City, Utah.

Shane graduated from Beaver High School in 1984 and received a bachelor's degree from Southern Utah University and two master's degrees. One from the University of Phoenix in Educational Counseling and another in Educational Leadership from Southern Utah University.

He was a highschool state champion wrestler, a cheerleader for SUU, and enjoyed physical activity his entire life, such as running and biking. Shane also served in the National Guard for eight years, and was so proud to be able to serve his country.

Shane had a love for learning and education and held multiple jobs and roles within the profession. As a wrestling coach for Milford and Beaver and UHSAA referee, he taught determination and strength to the athletes. In the roles of counselor, school administrator, superintendent, professor at Snow College, and director at Southeast Education Service Center, he made a meaningful difference in the lives of many students, helping guide them and other professionals to success.

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Shane held a strong testimony with many callings within in the church. He served a mission in the Portland, Oregon Mission. His light and love for the gospel helped him touch the lives of those he served. Even after his mission, Shane was a forever missionary and would lend a hand to anyone who needed his help. He was a scriptorion. He loved his scriptures, read them daily, and could recite a scripture by memory for any situation you could think of.

There was a never stranger in his presence. Shane had a way to make friends with anyone he met. He could captive a room easily. Everyone wanted to listen to him speak and hear his wisdom.

On February 6th, 1993, in the Saint George Temple, Shane was married and sealed to his eternal companion, Dana. That day they began a beautiful family that would be filled with the love between them and their children.

The Tushar Mountains that surrounded his home and hometown held a special place in his heart, and he visited the mountains with his family every chance he got. He loved to take his kids camping, hiking, hunting, fishing. Teaching them to love, respect, and enjoy the outdoors as he did.

Shane is survived by his wife Dana Erickson, his children, Ethan and Kenzey Erickson, Logan and Tegan Erickson, Benton and Sarah Erickson, Ivy and Brier Bryan, his five grandchildren, his father, Douglas Erickson, his siblings, Christy and Derk Iverson, Darla (Pete, deceased) Wilstead, Cody and Mindy Erickson, Jodi and Lance Nicholes, Derrick and Toni Erickson, his brother-in-law, Jason Quintana, his parents-in-law, Carl and Penny Holmes, many brothers-and-sisters-in-law, as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Judith Erickson and sister, Shari Quintana.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at 12:00 Noon (195 W 200 S, Circleville) a viewing will be held on Saturday from 10:00-11:30 a.m. Graveside Services will be held in the Circleville Cemetery with military honors by the Sevier Valley Post #37 and Utah Honor Guard.
