Earlyn Gash
New Orleans, Louisianna
Earlynn Pope Gash, 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 8, 2024, due to conditions conducive of age. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marvin Joel Gash. She is survived by her children, Marvin Joel Gash, Jr. (Chris), Waggaman, LA; and Sabrina Yvonne Taylor (Mike), Elko, NV; grandchildren: Christopher, Nicholas (Breeann), Nathan (Nicole); and great-grandchildren: Brooklynn, Elizabeth, Andrew, Lucy, and one on the way. Special friends Israel San Juan, and Ivan Siekmann.
Earlynn was born June 11, 1942, to Frank A. Pope and Marjorie McIntosh Pope in Monroe, Utah. She grew up in Ely, Nevada and graduated in 1960 from White Pine County High School. While in high school, she met the love of her life, Marvin. They were married on July 16, 1960, one month after graduation.
Earlynn and Marv lived in Ely for many years and made many life-long friends including Linda Wright, who preceded her in death. In August 1978 they moved to Sandy, Utah and then to Elko, NV in January 1989. Wherever they went Earlynn and Marv made dear friends. Earlynn never met a stranger, she was a friend to all.
Earlynn was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She and Marv were sealed for time and all eternity on November 24, 1965, in the St. George Utah Temple. Earlynn held many callings in the church, but her absolute favorite was teaching in the Primary. She loved working with the children.
Earlynn and Marv loved to travel and had many adventures together. She was devastated when in 2007 Marv passed away. In 2012, Earlynn moved to New Orleans to live with her son, Marv Jr. and Chris. She loved the people, culture, and cuisine of the South.
Earlynn is also survived by her brothers: Kenneth Pope (Jennifer), Elko NV; and Richard Pope (Evone), St. George, Utah; numerous nieces and nephews; and two fur-babies: Cody, Charlie who will miss her greatly.
A special note of thanks to Marv Jr., Chris, and their dear friends in NOLA for the loving care shown to Earlynn these past years.
