Edna Dickinson

December 3, 1922 — January 26, 2012

Edna Thompson Hurdsman Dickinson, 89, passed away January 26, 2012 at the Red Cliff Care Center in St. George. She was born December 3, 1922 in Torrey to James Horton and Delila May Behunin Thompson.

She married Warren Leslie Hurdsman, April 4, 1937 in Richfield. To this marriage was born Connie Mae, Barbara Ann, Leslie LaVon, Carol Louise, and Sharon Dee. They divorced in 1954. Edna married Freeman Smith Dickinson in 1956 in Richfield. He preceded her in death in 1974.

Edna lived most of her life in Richfield. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, crafts, made and sold specially designed T-shirts and sweat shirt-jackets. She crocheted all kinds of afghans and donated them to shelters and the care center.

Edna was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, serving as captain for four years. She served as president of Ladies of the American Legion Auxiliary, membership chairman of the Better Business Women of America, and belonged to Beta Sigma Phi. Edna loved playing cards, enjoyed good jokes and stories, went fishing, camping and picnicking. She taught Primary and Young Women, loved to visit with people. She was a good friend and neighbor to all.

Her living posterity include her daughters: Connie (Price) Nelson, Barbara (Richard) Barney, Carol (Joe) Bonavolant and Sharon (Neil) Duncan; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Gerry Thompson.

Preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; son, Leslie; siblings: Mary Virginia (James) Mayfield, Elmer Horton (Madge) Thompson, James Adrian "Dick" (Magdalina) Thompson, Bessie (Lawrence) Keller, Ray (Winnie) Thompson, Devon Thompson.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Magleby Mortuary Chapel, 50 South 100 West, Richfield where friends may call to visit with the family from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to your local cancer society.
