Edna Nice
Annabella, Utah

Edna Lorraine Hargrove Nice, 84, of Annabella, passed away December 27, 2022 in Monroe.  She was born October 12, 1938 in Brawley, CA to Luke Lonso and Anna Richardson Hargrove.
Mom was raised in Southern California and loved helping her parents on their farm. She enjoyed driving the tractor during cantaloupe season. She was not only a farm girl, but a beautiful prom and homecoming queen as well.
Mom was involved in a fender bender car accident during her senior year in high school. The investigating police officer, Jerry Nice, became the love of her life.  They were married on September 30, 1957 in Las Vegas, NV, and went on to build an incredible life together. He preceded her in death on February 26, 2019.
Dad continued his career in law enforcement and Mom never wavered in supporting him. They moved to Annabella in 1972, allowing us to be raised with a mountain in our backyard, and the love of a small town.
Mom was a cashier at the local grocery store, and later enjoyed working for Coca Cola giving product samples, and finding joy in taking pictures of children with Santa Claus.
She loved taking her children grandchildren and great-grandchildren shopping on their birthdays and treating them to lunch. Holidays were very special to Mom. For many years, she would make “eye ball soup” for the family every Halloween.  Christmas was another special time of year for her. She loved making it memorable for everyone. Mom loved family get-togethers and made sure that no one ever left hungry. She was an incredible cook and had a talent and love for cooking Mexican food.
She had a beautiful smile and bright hazel eyes. Her’s face lit up whenever she talked about Dad or her family. Mom always lived up to her last name, and was proud to be a “Nice!” Whenever her name was mentioned, people would say, “That Edna sure is a nice lady.”
Mom was known at Monroe Canyon Assisted Living Center as a “Little Firecracker.” She did whatever she could to be friendly to those around her, and was thankful for their kindness and assistance.
She will be missed by so many friends and family members, but her grace, love and legacy will continue to live on.
She is survived by her children: Mike (Tamie) Nice, Sunburst, MT; Jodie (John) Murdock, Annabella; Lissa (Elmer) Blake-Giles, Glenwood; 8 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law, Doug Blake; granddaughter, Jenalee Blake; great-granddaughter, Evie Andersen; siblings: Luke, Joanna, John, William, Kay, and Joy.
