Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and sister, Ella Marie Winget Mecham, 89, passed away on September 2, 2022 in Richfield, Utah. She was born March 31, 1933 in Monroe, a daughter of Claudius and Ella Amellia Brown Winget. She attended South Sevier High School.
Ella Marie married Samuel Devern Mecham on March 31, 1951 in Monroe. The marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple on March 25, 1965. He preceded her in death on March 14, 2011.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held several callings which she enjoyed. She and Devern served a mission at Cove Fort.
She enjoyed raising her 9 children and kept in contact with them and her friends almost daily. She worked hard and gave service willingly. She loved gardening and preserved most of the vegetables she and Dad grew.
Ella Marie worked at the Sevier Valley Hospital for 20 years before retiring.
She is survived by her children: Linda (Gene) Fordham, Sigurd; Susan (James) Stevens, St. George; Ronald Mecham, Monroe; Teena (Wayne) Jewkes, Monroe; Shauna (Gary) Knight, Richfield; Bill (Colette) Mecham, Monroe; Janet (Ronny) Lee, East Windsor, NJ; Russell (Lynn) Mecham, Nephi; son-in-law Bob Simmons, Glenwood; 40 grandchildren and 106 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Claudette (Max) Peterson, Redmond.
She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter, Jackie Simmons; grandson, Brian Blake; 2 great-great-granddaughters and 5 siblings: Erma, Othel, Woodrow, Mural and Winette.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 9, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Monroe 2nd Ward Chapel, 140 South Main in Monroe. Friends may call Thursday evening at the Magleby Mortuary in Richfield, from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. and Friday at the ward chapel from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Monroe City Cemetery.
