Elmer Wayne Peterson

Elmer Wayne Peterson peacefully left this world on April 8, 2026. Wayne was born July 6, 1934, in Tooele, Utah, to Elmer Walter Peterson and Eleanora Doris Johnson. He attended BYU and served an LDS mission to Texas-Louisiana. He married Sandra Lee Anderson in the Salt Lake Temple on April 1, 1957. Wayne served in the US Naval Reserves and worked for 26 years at Tooele Army Depot. He graduated from the University of Utah with an Associate's degree in Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering Technologies. As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he served in many callings, including Bishop, temple veil worker, and many others. After retirement, Wayne and Sandra moved to the peace and quiet of Monroe, Utah. Sandra preceded him in death in 2009 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. In September 2012, Wayne married Ana Estela McWhorter.

Wayne is survived by his wife Ana and his children Michael (Sheri), Tamara (Marty), Suzanne (JR), Kirk (Malissa), Kris (Kari), Jill (Donavan), and Ana’s children Michael McWhorter (Helen) and Michelle McWhorter Armenta (Adrian). Together, they have many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Wayne was kind, compassionate, and generous to a fault, and a cornerstone to his family. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 17, 2026, in the Monroe Stake Center, 140 South Main Street.A viewing will be held prior to services on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Church.Burial will be in the Monroe City Cemetery with Military Honors.Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina, and MantiAn online guestbook can be found at www.maglebymortuary.com
