Fred John Peterson
December 14, 1946 - September 4, 2025
It is with profound sorrow that the family of Fred John Peterson announces his passing on September 4, 2025. Fred, 78, died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loved ones, after years of bravely battling multiple health issues.
Fred was born to Theda Eva Ney and John William Peterson in Tooele, Utah, on December 14, 1946. In 1962, he married the love of his life, Alice Nadeen Hoard. They were inseparable for 63 years and were later sealed to their children in the temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Together, they raised nine children: Lester (Althea) Peterson, Blake (Raelynn) Peterson, the late Kari Peterson, Glen (Heather) Peterson, John (Shevelle) Peterson, the late Shawn Peterson, Shane Peterson, Jared Peterson, and Jayden (Kenzee) Peterson. This sealing affirmed their faith that their family relationships would continue beyond death for time and all eternity.
Over his long and varied career, Fred was known for his skilled hands and unwavering work ethic. He worked as a mechanic, a collision repair specialist, and spent 19 years as a dedicated coal miner. He completed his working life as an ironworker in Las Vegas, a job he proudly shared with his sons.
Fred had a deep and abiding love for his family and the outdoors. He was a passionate fisherman and hunter, but his greatest joy came from sharing adventures with his kids and grandkids. He loved camping with his family, where he taught his children and grandchildren about the wonders of nature. His interest in rockhounding led him to spending hours searching for unique stones and minerals, which he would then meticulously cut and polish for his collection. One of his most cherished memories, a story he loved to tell, was the trip he took with all his grandkids to Bryce Canyon. He delighted in their wonder as they explored the winding paths and gazed upon the unique hoodoo rock spires. When he wasn't outside, his garage was his sanctuary, a place where he could build and fix anything and everything.
Fred will be remembered for his love of family, his craftsmanship, and his spirit of adventure. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work and treasured memories that will be forever cherished.
