Listen to Obituary

Geneal P. Simmons, 86, of Richfield, Utah, passed away February 17, 2026, at home with her daughter by her side.

Born October 24, 1939, in Fillmore, Utah, to George V. and Thelma Peterson. She then met Robert Simmons, and they created a life of faith, family, and service. She was a devoted homemaker who found joy in quilting, sewing, and crafting—well known for her afghans, needlepoint, and beautiful garden. She loved to bottle her bountiful harvest in the fall and cherished time spent with her family in the mountains around Glenwood. She enjoyed summer walks, time with her grandkids, and great-grandkids, doing what she loved in the outdoors with them. Fishing, riding her 4-wheeler, and side-by-side whenever she had the chance. Geneal was actively involved in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In the Glenwood Ward, she served as ward Librarian for many years, Compassionate Services coordinator, in the Relief Society presidency, as a primary teacher, and as a 4-H leader, among other responsibilities. She loved the ladies she served with and was known for her outgoing personality and steadfast faith, never wavering through life’s trials. Her greatest accomplishment was raising seven children. She treasured her family and, despite the many miles between them, she always kept them close in her heart. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a blessing and joy in her life, and she loved spending time with them whenever possible.

She will be missed by her children, Dee (Kellie) Simmons, Sandra Simmons, Robert H. (Anna) Simmons, Darwin Simmons, Lisa (Corey) Lott, and David (Evelyn) Simmons. 29 Grandchildren, 40 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Grandchild. Along with her Sister, Rhea Burt.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Simmons; son, Victor Simmons; parents, George V. and Thelma Peterson; grandson, Jeramiah James Simmons; siblings, Luana Larsen, Wayne Peterson; and daughter-in-law, Jackie Simmons.
