On March 16th, 2026, Betty Geneil Lay Reynolds passed away peacefully at home in Idaho Falls, ID, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on July 2, 1939, in Richfield, Utah, to Lynn and Isabell Fox Lay.
She married Donald James Graham on December 14, 1957. Together, they had two daughters. They later divorced. She married Sterling James Reynolds in 1977. He preceded her in death on April 9, 1992.
Geneil was a beloved Mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was also a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers in Idaho Falls, ID. Geneil was very proud of her pioneer family history.
She worked as a school cook for many years. She was a great cook. Making many wonderful meals for our family gatherings. She loved shopping and sharing her treasures.
She loved dancing, turquoise, and cowboy boots. She enjoyed riding horses. She loved rodeos, especially bull riding. Watching rodeos brought her joy to the very end of her days. She was a strong woman with an endearing, quick-witted sass. Her heart was big. She was always doing something to care for those around her.
Geneil is survived by her daughters, Teresa (Ben) Smith and Donna (Kent) Miller; grandchildren, Jessey (Lindsey) Smith, Sheena (Chris) Muir, Codey (Cherise) Smith; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by father, Lynn Lay; mother, Isabell Fox Lay; sister, Ida Mae Swenson; brother, Kelvin Lay; grandson, Jayson Lynn Miller.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m at Magleby Mortuary in Richfield.
A Viewing will be held prior to services from 1:00 p.m to 1:30 p.m at the mortuary.
Burial will be in the Thompsonville Cemetery
