Glen Wesley Taylor passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on November 6, 1946 in Moab, Utah, Glen’s life was defined by love, service, hard work, and dedication to family and community.
Glen was the seventh child, sixth son, born to Norman (“Buck”) Bliss Taylor and Erma Pearl Knight. He grew up in Moab, Utah seeking fun (and perhaps some trouble) with his large extended family. He graduated from Grand County High School and attended Dixie College before transferring to the College of Eastern Utah. He later earned a Bachelor's degree from Utah State University and a Master's degree from Brigham Young University.
Glen married the love of his life, Roxey Carlene Baggs, on March 29, 1969, and together they shared a life filled with compassion, generosity, and endless service to others. They were sealed in the Logan Temple in June 1970. Their union was blessed with five wonderful daughters: Regina Eliason (Clint), Sonja Sheffer (Darren), Hollie Renae (deceased), Ashlee Layton (Bradley), and Kellee Duque (Frank). While he loved being a “girl dad”, Glen even more deeply cherished his role as grandfather to Emily, Elizabeth, Jenna, Elissa, Nathan, Roman, Eliza, and Wesley.
A lifelong educator, Glen dedicated more than 40 years to working in public schools. He began his career as a teacher at Crown Point, New Mexico, and Duchesne Elementary. His passion for education and inspiring young minds led him to roles of increasing responsibility, becoming principal at schools in the Uintah Basin and later Superintendent of Grand County School District. He completed his career as the Executive Director of Central Utah Educational Services (CUES) until his retirement in 2013. Glen was a passionate advocate for rural education, striving to improve access and opportunity for students in smaller communities.
After retiring, Glen remained active in the causes he cared about. He volunteered weekly at local schools, helping students with reading, math, and classroom support—impacting hundreds of young lives. He served multiple terms on the Richfield City Library Board and volunteered alongside Roxey at Fremont Indian State Park, giving guided tours and assisting with events.
His commitment to community service was also evident in his church and humanitarian work. Glen may hold the record for the longest-serving Primary teacher in his congregation, having served faithfully for over 20 years. Glen and Roxey served as humanitarian missionaries at the Richfield Humanitarian Center, managing operations, securing donations, and coordinating services for those in need.
Glen supported the Richfield High School Booster Club and helped fund the school’s pantry to provide food, hygiene products, and clothing to students in need. He and Roxey were also known to quietly cover school and activity fees for neighborhood youth.
Glen’s lifelong dedication to service earned him numerous recognitions, including induction into the Richfield High School Hall of Fame and a volunteer award from Governor Spencer Cox. He and Roxey were honored with the Mac Neal Magleby Award in 2024.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Burke, Clarke, Curtis, Douglas, and Loren (“Bucky”) as well as his daughter Hollie Renae. He is survived by his wife Roxey, children, grandchildren, and sister Geraldine Boggs (Dick).
Outside of his work and service, Glen enjoyed camping and fishing, ham radio, photography, and storytelling. These hobbies brought him joy and created lasting memories with family and friends.
Above all, Glen’s greatest joy was his family. He and Roxey were devoted supporters of their children and grandchildren in all their endeavors—from music and academics to missionary service and military careers. He took great pride in the service of his granddaughters Emily Sheffer (US Navy) and Elizabeth Sheffer (US Air Force / US Space Force).
Glen will be remembered not only for his accomplishments, but for the warmth, kindness, and generosity he showed to everyone he met. His legacy of faith, family, and service will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him.
