Mark Snedeger
Richfield, Utah

Grover Mark Snedeger, 87, returned to his Heavenly Home on November 21, 2023, while in Provo. He was surrounded by loved ones. Mark was born in Sigurd, April 29, 1936, to Grover Leon and Maurine Jorgensen Snedeger, both deceased. He was the oldest of four children. Mark  resided most of his life in Richfield.
Mark graduated from Richfield High School in 1954. In 1955 Mark bought the gas station in Sigurd. He loved living in and serving the community of Sigurd. He met his sweetheart, Vonda Barney, in Richfield. She was three years younger than him. They pursued their romance throughout high school and were married on September 20, 1957, in the Manti Temple. They were blessed with four children. In 1958 he moved his gas station to 300 North Main in Richfield. Mark was a very compassionate and hardworking man. After closing his own station, he went to work for many years at Whiting Motors, in the Auto Body Department. He was a master at painting vehicles. Later, he worked for High Country Auto. Mark volunteered in the Sevier County Jeep Posse for many years. He went on many search and rescues. He was in the National Guard and was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 5050. For many years he performed military rights by participating in gun salutes at services for military members.
Mark’s favorite hobby was collecting guns. If there was a gun out there, he knew everything about it. Mark loved to rebuild and restore tractors. He also enjoyed camping, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren. Mark was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He spent many years caring for family members that needed full-time care. He was very charitable and never complained about his responsibilities. Mark loved everyone and always went out of his way to help anyone in need. He loved all his children, and every grandchild was precious to him, and they knew it, they knew him.
Vonda passed away from a long illness, in Gunnison on April 19, 1997. On November 14, 1998, he married his 2nd great love, Anna Marie Forsey Nielsen. They spent 24 years together before her passing on November 27, 2021. His marriage to Anna blessed him with five more children who loved him very much.
Mark is survived by his son, Russell Scott Snedeger; daughter, Karen Maurine Edwards; Anna’s daughters: Teresa (Jim) Dutson, Tina (Lee) Sorenson, Tonya (Brad) Christensen, Teri (Tim) Morgan; daughter-in-law, Teresa Madsen; and sister, Meredith Snedeger. With both families he also leaves 30 grandchildren, 103 great-grandchildren (plus twins coming soon), 5 great-great-grandchildren, and extended family and friends that dearly loved him.
Mark is also preceded in death by his parents; sons, Jeffery Mark and Cory Afton Snedeger; son-in-law, Brian Edwards; grandson, Steven Kenneth Lee; stepsons Van Madsen and Russell Max Nielsen; sister, Marlene Snedeger Anderson; and brother, Michael “Sned” Dayne Snedeger.
He was very proud of his posterity; Mark was a hero to all his family and to all who knew and loved him. He will be greatly missed.
