Gwendolyn Chapman

May 8, 1923 — May 14, 2011

Gwendolyn Jackman Thompson Chapman, 88, passed away May 14, 2011. She was born May 8, 1923 in Levan to Leland Stanford and Thelma Robinson Jackman. She married Guy "Tommy" Thompson, January 12, 1943. He went missing in action in WWII on May 9, 1943. She married Maurice Bean Chapman, January 18, 1949 in the Manti Temple.

Grandma and Grandpa owned and operated Chapman Furniture for 45 years. They worked side by side together until Maurice’s death in 1996.

Grandma was an amazing woman and happily served in many church callings in the LDS Church. Also a member of the Kiwanis Club and a state representative for the Republican Party for Juab County.

Grandma was a super grandma who loved and spoiled us as only she could.

In 1997 Grandma moved to Richfield to be close to her granddaughter, Jodi Lee, who was her caretaker up until her death.

Gwen is survived by her five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Walker. Preceded in death by her parents; husbands; son, Paul Maurice; and great-granddaughter, Jaylee Ann Oldroyd; brother-in-law, Steve Walker.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the Nephi City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.

Our family wishes to thank the Heritage Hills Care Center nurses and staff for their kind and compassionate care of our grandmother.
