Jack Homer Hicks, 90, passed away January 18, 2012 in St. George, Utah. He was born February 6, 1921 in Monroe, to Homer and Phoebe Winn Hicks. He married Jean Reedy, they later divorced. He married Margaret Betty Lee Greenwood, December 10, 1971.

He received a degree in civil engineering and was owner of Hicks and Allred Construction in Palm Springs, retiring in 1972. When he got bored with fishing, hunting and hanging around the house, he went back to work. He was a life-long Mason and Shriner.

He is survived by his wife, Betty of Richfield; children, Jane Rue, Kanab; Sara (Larry) Burger, Monroe; Gail (Dave) Shaw, Lake Havasu, AZ; Ken (Shelly) Kirschner, Richfield; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Arlene Hicks.

He is preceded in death by parents; son, Steven Kirschner; siblings, Wanda (Neil) Nielsen, Coye (Derral) Poulson, K.L. Hicks, Barbara (Ned) Sorenson.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Magleby Mortuary Chapel, 50 South 100 West, Richfield, where friends may call to visit with the family Tuesday morning after 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Shriner’s Hospitals for Children c/o Lana Turnbow, Fairfax Road at Virgina Street, Salt Lake City, UT 84103, in Jack’s name.
