Jacki Wilson

Jacki René Lowrance Wilson, age 80, was born February 25, 1946, in Cut Bank, Montana, to John W. Lowrance Jr. and Vera Ruth Nickeson Lowrance. She passed away on August 9, 2026.

She lived with a blend of creativity, determination, deep faith, and a famously stubborn streak, rarely meeting a challenge she didn’t believe she could overcome. When told something couldn’t be done, her quiet but unmistakable response was often, “Watch me.”

As a young woman, she served a Spanish-speaking mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in California, an experience that deepened her faith and strengthened her resolve to pursue whatever she set her mind to. After returning home, she met Hugh L Wilson while attending Brigham Young University. They married on June 5, 1970, and spent more than 56 years building a life and family together. Their journey took them through homes in Utah, Nevada, Idaho, Ohio, and Colorado before eventually returning to Utah. Through many moves, adventures, and challenges, they worked side by side to provide for their children and create a home centered on faith, love, and perseverance. Jacki and Hugh were pleased to serve a senior mission in Jacksonville, Florida, and then continued to do the lord's work by way of genealogy. In later years, her playful spirit shone most brightly with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She delighted in silliness, teaching, and especially babies—something she never tired of after raising nine of her own.

More than anything, she dreamed of a large, joyful family. In her own version of The Sound of Music, she filled their home with music, performances, plays, homemade costumes, and Christmas programs, involving her nine children in as much creativity and activity as possible. Music and the arts were a constant thread throughout her life. She sang in the BYU acapella and master choirs, composed songs at the piano, performed in theater, wrote poetry, and rewrote song lyrics spontaneously. Her creativity extended into every corner of daily life—sewing, quilting, crafting, gardening, preserving food, raising animals, and taking on ambitious projects. She was resourceful, hands-on, and always willing to learn something new.

She is survived by her husband, Hugh L Wilson; their nine children, Dawnae Wilson, Denise (Peter) McCollaum, Deanna Brooks, Kristin (Mike) Lindsey, Michael (Camila) Wilson, Emily (Eliot) Dalton, Kimberly (Brandon) Cameron, Amy Wilson, and Lindsey (David) Christenson; 26 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Daniel “Dan” Lowrance and Mari Chavez. She was preceded in death by her parents, John William Lowrance Jr., Vera Ruth Nickeson Lowrance, Barbara Collier Lowrance, Shirley Lowrance, and her brother, Kenneth “Ken” Lowrance.

Her life was a steady work of building—faith, family, and a home filled with music, effort, and love. Her legacy continues in her descendants and in every moment when one of them is told, “You can’t do that,” and quietly thinks:

“Watch me.”

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 11:00 AM in Hatch Ward Chapel, 24 South Main Street (South Highway 89), with a viewing prior to services from 9:30-10:30 AM.
