Janet Hall
Manti, Utah

Born Beatrice Janet Peavey, the seventh child of Alfred Frank and Lulu Mary (Van Epps) Peavey on July 6, 1934, in Jackson, Michigan.

Being the "baby" of five older sisters and one brother, I was spoiled rotten. Like all the other people at the time, during the depression and World War II, we never knew we were "poor." Then to add to it, my father was killed in a train accident, and I was only a year old. So, our mother had to go to work to keep us a family and together. I grew up thinking all my cousins were my brothers and sisters. We had a large family with a lot of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Grandma Whaley was the backbone of our family! We spent most of our summers at "the farm" because most of the men in the family were off to the war in Europe!

Raised in Michigan and attending several schools, I left high school in the 11th grade to marry "my soldier" boyfriend at age 17, Bert Tenney, in 1951 when he was being sent off to Korea. No children were born in this union. We later divorced.

After relocating to California to begin a new life, I met my true soul mate, Leland Neil Hall. We started keeping each other company and then decided to get married. At that time, I was also baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After being baptized and married, we moved to Manti, Utah where Neil was born. We have lived here since 1990. While doing my genealogy, I discovered my father's family were all members of the Church. It was a surprise to me because after my father's death, we were raised by my mother's family. My mother never tried to influence us as to which church to join and leaving it up to us to decide. Becoming a member of the Church myself, seemed to "close the circle" for me. So, it was a real joy to me to discover the Church by myself (and yes, Neil is a member) and the missionaries.

Having made Manti my home, I have loved each and everyone I have had the pleasure of becoming friends with and made Neils family "my own." I have enjoyed the beautiful countryside, mountains, and desert that Neil introduced me to.

I think one of my biggest joys has been in the "adoption" of many of God's children! Since never having any children of my own, I have become a "grandma” to many kids and their children. My love of sewing has led to making many prom and wedding dresses, doilies, quilts, Afghans, baby blankets and such. Also, having made many, many shirts and vests for my husband Neil, and doing alterations for the lovely people of Manti! And yes, my Barbie dolls! I am so thankful for the sewing talent the Lord blessed me with, through which I have met so many wonderful people.

On May 25, 2025, our dear Janet passed through the veil peacefully into the arms of her loving Heavenly Father. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother and sisters and the love of her life, Neil. We would like to express our great appreciation for the caretakers at Good Life Senior Living in Mt. Pleasant, along with her best friend, Ellie Hansen. They were Janet's family away from family and she loved each one of them.
