John Michael Jensen “Hot Wheels”, 69, passed away April 15, 2023, in Mapleton from health conditions. Michael was born May 2, 1953, in Salina to John Marion and Ellis Rae Crane Jensen.
Michael was born to roll. He started his lifetime driving career right out of school. He drove trucks for Hales Sand and Gravel, Barneys Trucking, Joe Chappell, Dats Trucking and Robinson’s Transport. “53” years and trillion of miles … it was in his blood.
July 8, 1977, he married Jill Marie Buchanan, and they built their home in Centerfield where they raised two daughters: Jackie Marie, Mapleton; and Jessica Mae, Centerfield. Together they grew and loved life, cars, trucks, four wheelers, snow mobiles, boating and camping with family and friends. Together they made a lifetime of memories. Michael loved hunting, fishing, camping and Christmas tree hunting with his grandsons.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years; his two daughters and son-in-law Richard Schugk (that he called son); and 2 grandsons: Christian Michael and Parley Oras Hansen; sister, Denise (Richie) Harvey; many uncles and aunts.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Linda Warren; and grandson, Jackson Richard Schugk.
Michael was a dear husband, dad, grandpa, and friend to everyone he met. He will be dearly missed and never forgotten, his big smile, his laugh, jokes, and his love of the road.
We would also like to recognize a few of his dearest friends that he always had: Shawn Edwards, Aaron Reeve, Idris Walker, Andy Quinn, Haddy Harrison and for all the phone calls and concerns. We cannot list them all, but it will never be forgotten.
