John Robert Tanner

John Robert Tanner, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, peacefully passed away on August 6, 2026, at the age of 92.

John was born on May 27, 1934, in Sevier County, Utah, to Orin and Lila May Olcott Tanner. He grew up with a strong work ethic, a love for family, and values that guided him throughout his life. He attended South Sevier High School and later attended Utah County Technical Institute, where he studied upholstery.

John proudly served his country in the United States Navy. While serving, he married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Naomi Ann Dale, in Richfield, Utah, in 1956. Together for 70 years, they built a life centered on faith, love, and family, raising their six children in Lehi, Utah.

John worked at Reams Supermarket, the Lehi City, and later operated a small upholstery business while working at the Tooele Army Depot, where he worked until his retirement.

A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, John lived his life in the service of others.

John is survived by his devoted wife, Naomi Ann Tanner; his children, Reginald(Natalie)Tanner, Terry Tanner, Janet Christiansen, and Daniel(Lisa)Tanner; along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

He is preceded in death by his beloved sons, Jeffery Tanner and Robert Tanner.

Services for John Tanner will be held as follows:

The viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 12, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at the Lehi 2nd Ward LDS Chapel.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 13, at 10:00 a.m. at the Lehi 2nd Ward LDS Chapel, with a viewing from 9:00–9:45a.m. prior to the service.

Following the funeral services, John will be laid to rest at the Richfield City Cemetery. Military Honors by V.F.W. Sevier Post #5050
