Joy Jacobson

Joy Fowler Camp Jacobson, 80, of Richfield, passed away July 5, 2011 in Monroe. She was born April 25, 1931 in Springville, Utah to Myrle Roundy and Isaac Lyndon Fowler. She married Val Fred Camp May 14, 1948 and was sealed in the Manti Temple. He preceded her in death October 2, 1987. She married Kyle Lyon Jacobson, August 18, 1988. He preceded her in death October 25, 2010.

Joy and Kyle were privileged to work in the Manti Temple for 3 ½ years, making many friends there. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many callings, including auxiliary presidencies, a teacher, librarian and compassionate service leader. To her, family and friends were all that is important. She enjoyed going camping with the family, attending the temple, traveling many places. Her handwork, including sewing, crocheting, quilt making, etc. will be enjoyed by family and friends for years to come. She enjoyed having the family come for visits and loved to cook for them.

Joy is survived by her children: Ronald Gene (Shirlene) Camp, Enoch; Valyn (Darwin) Leavitt, Monroe; Deanna (Terry) Higgins, Circleville; Tricia Keisel, Richfield; and Cynette (Mike) Lambourne, West Jordan. Her step-children are: Sharon Temple, Hawaii; Valerie (Larry) Lydon, Mesquite, Nevada; Pamela (Mike) Perrin, Sandy; Paula (Robert) Folsom, Louisville, Kentucky; Robin (Brian) Wurth, Summerfield, Florida. She has 26 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; sister-in-law, Janae Blackburn, Loa.

She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Lory Fred Camp; parents; and one grandson, Michael Gene Camp.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Richfield 6 th Ward Chapel, 200 East Center. Friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the Magleby Mortuary, 50 South 100 West, Richfield; and Saturday morning at the ward chapel from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Venice Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.

Joy lived in many places and made friends in each place: Lehi, Annabella, Venice, Paradise, Moreland, Idaho, Sigurd and Richfield. She, with Kyle, attended several Navy Reunions where they made life-long friends . She waitressed for her father and in other cafes. She retired from working in the school lunch program.
