Joyce Ellen Hillier, a beloved daughter, mother, sister, aunt, and sweet friend of everyone she met, passed away on July 27, 2025, in her home at the age of 75.
Born on May 22, 1950, in Rahway, New Jersey, daughter of M. Wayne and Augusta Hermann Hillier. She was the second of six children and was raised in Provo, Utah, and graduated from Provo High in 1969.
She met and married Paul L. Richmann and had two children, Katherine Ruth Richmann and Jacob Paul Richmann. They lived in Price, Utah, for 5 years until their divorce in 1985. She moved to Provo, where she worked two jobs while raising her children. Then in 2007, after her children left the nest, she moved to Manti to help take care of her mother.
Joyce had many health issues from the time of birth to the present, but never let them get to her. She always had a “get through it” attitude, never letting people know just how much she was suffering. Doctors were her best friends. She always had big dreams and aspirations (wanted to go to Paris), and a terrific love for the Beatles. She had an amazing record and Beatles card collection.
Joyce was the super Aunt always remembering birthdays, anniversaries, and special events. If you didn’t get a birthday card with five dollars in it, there was something wrong. But her greatest joy and satisfaction were her children.
She was preceded in death by her younger brother Russell, her father and mother, and twin nieces. She is survived by her two children, a sister, and three brothers, along with many nieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service for her on Monday, August 4, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the Provo Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her parents.
Her children would like to thank all the many doctors who took care of her, and also a special “thank you” to the Manti 3rd Ward for all their love and support.
