Karl-Heinz Georg Viehweger was born on March 21, 1944, in Blauenthal, Germany. In 1955, he immigrated to the United States with his parents, Georg Karl and Elsa Elna Malzdorf Viehweger. He graduated from West High School in 1963.

Karl married Kathryn Sorensen, and together they had four sons: Stephan Karl, Anthony Westley, Brian Lee, and Christopher Georg. Though they later divorced, their family connections remained strong.

Karl had many passions. One of his lifelong loves was trains—sparked by growing up in a railroad yard that his Father ran in Germany and later expressed through his model train collection. Karl also raced cars, embracing the thrill and challenge of the sport. He served in the Utah Army National Guard. Karl was also known for his passion and love for animals. Known for his intelligence and wide range of abilities, he held many jobs over the years—truly a jack of all trades.

He had a beautiful tenor voice and a deep love for music. His enthusiasm led him to organize and secure sponsorships for an annual Old-Fashioned Christmas Concert in Pueblo, Colorado—a tradition that continues to this day.

Karl was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 2008, he married Evalyn J. Christensen in the Nauvoo Temple. Together, they enjoyed many adventures, including nine years in Pueblo, Colorado, serving in the mission field and building cherished lifelong friendships. They later returned to Utah, settling in Manti.

Karl was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Anthony “Tony”; his granddaughter, Ashley; and his great-grandson, Nicholas Tucker Morris. He is survived by his sister, Hannelore Dittrich; his sons; many nieces and nephews; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Karl lived a full and meaningful life, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and song.
