Listen to Obituary

Kathy Roberts Sorensen (84), born August 6, 1941, in Annabella, Utah, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved daughter of Alden and Clarice Roberts and the second oldest of seven children. She and her siblings shared a closeness that has endured throughout their lives and influenced the way she raised her own children. Kathy cherished her childhood memories and the close-knit community that shaped her early years.

Kathy married her sweetheart, H. Michael Sorensen, and together they raised seven children. Their family grew to include 22 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren, with another on the way. Kathy was a devoted mother, often managing the household and farm while Michael’s work took him away during the week. Her tireless work ethic and nurturing spirit touched every aspect of her life. Kathy’s greatest joy came from loving and caring for her family, whom she cherished above all else. She placed little value on worldly wealth, devoting herself instead to her faith and to building lasting relationships that enriched her life and the lives of those around her. Her unwavering love and support created a foundation of strength and unity for her family, and her legacy will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Among her many achievements, Kathy was known for her remarkable ability to balance family, work, and community service. She was a devoted homemaker who created a haven where all who entered were welcome with her delicious home-cooked meals. She tended a beautiful garden, and she always ensured her children were supported in all their activities. She served as Postmistress at the Annabella Post Office, becoming a beloved figure in the community. Among her many attributes, perhaps her greatest was her Christlike love for every person she met. She always saw the good in everyone, and her kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Kathy’s sense of humor and warmth brought joy to her family and friends. She was famous for sending birthday cards to every child, grandchild, and great-grandchild, and for attending every event—she was her family's greatest supporter. She cherished time spent at the family cabin on Monroe Mountain, where many treasured memories were created.

Kathy's legacy is one of love, service, and unwavering faith. She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in various callings, including being the compassionate service coordinator for over 20 years, touching the lives of many.

She is survived by her children: Michelle (Kenneth L.) Alber of Henderson, NV; Stephanie (Michael G.) Morgan, Annabella; Renon (J. Keith) Savage and Lori (Bruce R.) Williams, both of Cedar City; Jay Michael (Christine) Sorensen, Richfield; Cory Ralph (Kamie) Sorensen, Monroe, and Rhett Gordon Sorensen, Annabella. She is preceded in death by her husband, H. Michael Sorensen; parents, Alden and Clarice Roberts; and many other loved ones.
