Kathy L. Mason

Kathy L. Mason, age 76, passed away on July 19, 2026, in Provo, Utah. Kathy was born to Dale and Donna Hensley on March 4th, 1950, in Pocatello, ID. She was the 4th of 10 siblings.

In Kathy’s younger years, she enjoyed sports and fishing. Kathy met the love of her life, Derrel E. Mason and gained three children, Vern, Kristina, and Victor. They had a double wedding with Kathy’s sister on July 4th, 1975, and have been together for 51 years. Later, the family was joined by two more girls, Dee and Kari.

Kathy took pride in work and enjoyed her time working at AMI. She also worked at H&R Block and Ballard Medical in Pocatello, Idaho. More recently, she was a part-time crossing guard in Salina, Utah, and helped her daughter, Kari, with her business (Stitch of Comfort) making weighted blankets. Her all-time favorite “job” was going to lunch and shopping with her mom and sisters, but made sure she was home by 5:15 pm when Derrel got home from work.

When they hit retirement age, Kathy and Derrel moved to Salina, Utah. She spent time going on jeep rides, fishing, and spending time with her family. Kathy loved playing games, billiards, and having get-togethers with family and friends. She enjoyed watching football and supporting her Miami Dolphins. She absolutely loved bowling and her women’s bowling league and the many friends she made there.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Donna, her siblings, Pat Breland and Jay Hensley, and her son, Victor A. Mason.

She is survived by her husband, Derrel E. Mason. Siblings, James “Ripper” (Lafawn) Hensley, Christie (Randy) Jones, Judy (Bob) Keller, Tamry Shepherd, Dawnie (Gordon) Hensley, Kelly (Angie) Hensley, Kevin (Robin) Campbell. Her children, Vern (Anna) Mason, Kristina (Roland) Mason, Dee (Jeff) Griffiths, and Kari (Wesley) Shaw; her grandchildren, Anthony (Tyffnee) Mason, Joseph Rivas, Samantha Mason, Brittani (Mika) Griffiths, Jordynn (Mason) Tuss, Addison Shaw, and Kason Shaw, and great-grandson, Callum Munn-Rivas.

The family wants to extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Adam Jensen and his amazing staff at Revere Health in Gunnison for the care and compassion they showed to Kathy. We also want to thank everyone at Gunnison Valley Hospital and Utah Valley Hospital ICU department for trying their hardest to keep her with us.

As per Kathy’s wishes, she is being cremated, and there will be no services. The family wishes to invite everyone to a celebration of life on July 25th 2026, from 2 PM- 10 PM at The Elle on Main, 285 W Main Street in Salina, Utah.
