LaKay Holman
Washington, UT

LaKay Anderson Holman, 89, was reunited with her eternal companion, Bill Holman, on Saturday, October 7, 2023 in Washington City. She peacefully passed away surrounded by family.
LaKay was born September 25, 1934, in Junction, to Austin and Zelma Anderson. She and her siblings, Dee Anderson, Barbara Wayman, and Nuel Anderson spent most of their childhood years in Kingston. She graduated from Piute High School and attended
college in Cedar City for a year before moving to Salt Lake City to work for Singer Sewing Company as a bookkeeper.
After a 21-day whirlwind romance, LaKay married Bill Holman in August 1954 and began her world travels as the wife of a USAF Officer. Her travels (homes) included Charleston, SC; Ardmore, OK; Smyrna, TN; Tokyo, Japan; Vacaville/Fairfield, CA; Altus, OK; Clark AB, Philippines, and Redlands, CA, where they eventually made their home for 30 years after Bill retired. She moved to Yucaipa, CA in 2011 to live with her daughter and family after Bill’s passing.
LaKay was a beloved mother to her four children: three sons (Ren, Courtney, and Sidney) and daughter (Tamie). She has 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
After Bill retired, LaKay began working as a nutrition dietitian for a boy’s home where she became a surrogate mother to many wayward boys during her 15-year career.
LaKay was a true disciple of Jesus Christ and spent her entire life serving others in whatever capacity was needed. She held many callings as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, both at the ward and stake levels. One of her favorites was overseeing the baptismal clothing for the Redlands Stake. She loved meeting those who were preparing for baptism. She served a full-time LDS mission with her husband at Fort Jackson, SC.
In her later years, she was the daycare provider for some of her 13 great grandchildren — a job she thoroughly loved and was heartbroken when the last one started school. After a 69-year absence, she finally returned to live in her beloved home of Utah in April of 2023.
We will miss her gentle spirit, cheerful smile, weekly phone calls, and unconditional love.
She is preceded in death by her husband; son; parents; and older brother.
The family of LaKay would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all the staff at Ovation Sienna Hills Assisted Living and Memory Care Center in Washington for taking such good care of their mother.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 11:00am in the Magleby Mortuary Chapel, 50 S. 100 W. Richfield, Utah. A viewing will be held at the mortuary from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Holden, Utah cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
