 Landon D Hatch
Richfield, Utah

Our beloved father, grandfather, brother, cousin and friend, Landon D Hatch “Lanny”, 64, passed away at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray on August 12, 2023 from complications following a successful major surgery and diagnosis of AVM.  He was surrounded by his loving son, James Hatch, and cousins: Susan Bagley, Carol Ann Robinson, and Janae Blake.
Landon was born September 2, 1958 in Richfield. His parents are J Gordon and Carol June Lipsey Hatch. Landon remembered well the day he was adopted by J. Gordon and sitting on the judges’ desk, telling him he wanted to have Gordon as his dad.
Landon grew up in Richfield and attended the Ashman Elementary and graduated from Richfield High School, Class of 1976. He attended Snow College. He obtained other training and obtained certificates in education, that were job related.
Landon recently worked in Salt Lake City for Rocky Mountain Power as a project manager. He retired April 2021.  He was project manager for the Cedar Springs project in Douglas, WY, where he put in a large windmill powered system before retiring. He was project manager in Houston, TX, before moving closer to home. These were all prestigious projects that required him to be at job sites and away from home on many occasions. He couldn’t wait to retire and return to his quiet hometown of Richfield. He did not miss the busy city life.
Landon was an accomplished guitar instrumentalist and singer. He played and sang with a group of friends in high school. He owned many guitars and had his own recording studio in his home in West Jordan. His favorite memories were his music sessions with his dad, Gordon, and at Hatch family reunions and gatherings, and music sessions with friends.
Landon enjoyed all out of doors adventures. He loved hiking and traveling to see the beauties this earth had to offer. He loved taking trips with his dad and James and grandchildren, Khloee and Kellen. He loved being out in nature where he could relax and enjoy the peace and quiet that nature had to offer. He loved hiking the deserts of Utah.
Landon had a great wit about him and loved visiting with friends and family. He had a contagious and genuine smile. His dimples will always be a reminder of the joy and happiness he shared with others. He was a great friend to have and he helped remind us about the fun you can have in life. He also had a serious side to his nature, but mostly loved a good laugh. He said you need to learn to laugh with and about yourself.
Landon is survived by his sons: Jeremy and James; grandchildren: Khloee Ranea and Kellen D; stepbrother, Kevin (Susie) Hatch; sister-in-law, Carolyn Hatch. Preceded in death by his parents; grandparents: Lloyd D and June Borg Lipsey and John and Irma Johnson Hatch; step brother, Steven Hatch.
Private family graveside services and interment will be held in the Richfield City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti. Online guestbook at www.maglebymortuary.com
