LaNeice Peterson Stott, 95, of Manti, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, died peacefully in her sleep, January 14, 2023 in Henderson, NV. She was born March 30, 1927 in Gunnison, to Ben and Rachel Wilson Peterson, both deceased. She graduated in 1946 from East High School in Salt Lake City. On October 30, 1943 she married her eternal sweetheart, L. Donald Stott of Manti, Utah; marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on March 14, 2019.
Her greatest joys were her family and grandchildren, always saying that her life was happiest when they were in it. Throughout her life, LaNeice was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many capacities, including Primary president, Jr. Sunday School coordinator, Relief Society teacher, Relief Society stake presidency, and MIA counselor. In 1990-91, she and Don served an 18-month mission in the New Zealand Temple.
An active member of the community, for over 25 years LaNiece volunteered in various capacities for the American Cancer Society, including the county coordinator of the South Sanpete Unit and the unit service chairman. In 2000 she was nominated for an Ageless Hero Award for Community Involvement by the BlueCross BlueShield Association. In 2002 she was the recipient of the annual Yule Candle, presented by the Ephraim Middle School for outstanding community service. In 2008 she was presented the Volunteer Service Award by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation. She was also an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Literary Club and the Activity Club.
LaNiece worked for Dr. GS Rees and Dr. Von Pratt as a medical assistant and office manager for over 30 years. Don and LaNeice traveled extensively in the US and several foreign countries.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Patrick), Henderson, NV; son, Hal Clyde (Mitzi), West Jordan; 10 grandchildren, 1 step-grandson; 13 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Clyde (Norma), Gunnison; sister, Colleen, Anaheim, CA.
Also preceded in death by her husband, Don; parents; sons: David Lester and Norman Don; and granddaughter, Shannon Dawn Glazier; brothers: Stanley Ben, Burnard Lorenzo, Dale M., and Ronald Wilson; sister, Lucille Campbell.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 12:00 Noon in the Manti Red Church, where friends may call from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Manti City Cemetery. Funeral Directors, Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti. Online guestbook at www.maglebymortuary.com
