This is the celebration of the life of a great and righteous mother who endured to the end. Lenna Rae Gleave Romine passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at the age of 85, on April 20th in Provo, Utah, after a brief illness.
Lenna was born on May 7th, 1940, in Salina, Utah, to Erwin and Arnesta Gleave. She grew up in Antimony, Utah, where she enjoyed spending time with and taking care of her baby sister, Lorna. Lenna attended Piute High School in Circleville, Utah, where she spun a baton on the Chieftains Marching Team. She attended LDS Business School, where she obtained her degree.
She married Linden Dee Romine on June 26, 1959, in the St. George Utah Temple. She and Linden enjoyed dancing at the Purple Haze in Kingston Canyon and riding ATVs on the Paiute ATV Trail. Linden was one of the fathers of the Paiute ATV Trail, and she was very proud of him. During their married life, she served as Piute County Assessor for many years. She was also the Clerk for the Justice of the Peace and kept the books for Stans Mercantile. She was an excellent homemaker, always kept a neat and tidy house, and enjoyed her flowers in her yard.
Lenna held many church positions and was very devout in her faith. After Linden passed away in 2011, she enjoyed working in both the St. George and Cedar City Temples, even moving temporarily to St. George to be close by. She loved her time in St. George, but was ready to move back home once her time was done.
Lenna had been harboring a hidden talent, and after the kids all left the house, she became an accomplished artist and loved painting and giving the paintings to friends and family. At the time of her passing, she had 16 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. The kids loved having sleepovers at Grandma Lenna’s house, where everyone knew where the candy drawer was located. She also took the grandkids on many adventures, like biking and rafting. She loved to read and spent many happy hours in her favorite chair in front of the picture window.
To her friends, family, and community, she was an example of a true Christlike person. She was honest, loving, and always spoke the truth. She was an excellent mother and grandmother. The greatest blessing and biggest challenge of her life was putting up with Linden Romine. She has now been reunited with her beloved husband, where he is no doubt teasing her, and she is saying, “OH LANDON!!”
Lenna is survived by her daughters, Cindy (Randy) Madsen, Dayna Romine, and Deena (Destry) Jones, 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and her sister, Lorna (Robert) Lay. She is preceded in death by her husband, Linden Dee Romine, daughter Lisa Anne Romine, her parents Erwin and Arnesta Gleave, and brothers Ramaun, LaDean (Helen), and Shane Gleave.
The family would like to sincerely thank the nurses and doctors at the Utah Valley Hospital for their excellent care and compassion, and Magleby Mortuary for handling the funeral.
