Linda Cecile Weisenberg Vanderlitz

Linda Cecile Weisenberg Vanderlitz passed away on February 23, 2026, in Panguitch, Utah. She was born on May 17, 1937, in Brooklyn, New York, to Max and Ani Goldstein Weisenberg. She grew up as an only child in the Sea Gate community on Coney Island, New York. Her dad and all of her grandparents were immigrants, and she was very proud of her heritage. Linda spent her childhood and teenage years at the beach. She enjoyed spending time with her dad, going to baseball games, dinner functions, and just being his companion. 

Linda was independent from an early age, being an only child. She was a lifelong learner and entered college at the age of 17. She eventually earned two Master's degrees, one in History and one in Library Science. Linda loved being a librarian in Manhattan, New York. During her career, she loved to travel. She lived in Israel and travelled to many other places as a single woman. Linda wasn't afraid to travel alone and went on many, many cruises. She would say "Hundreds of Cruises". 

After her early retirement, she met Stanley Edward Vanderlitz. She and Van were married in 1981 and lived for a time in Fort Lauderdale, then moved to Las Vegas. Linda was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1988 while living in Las Vegas. 

Linda never let her health challenges of cancer, blindness, and many surgeries stop her from living. After Linda totally lost her sight in her 50s, Van wanted her to live in a place where she would be taken care of when he passed away, so they moved to Panguitch, Utah, in 1994. Linda always thought it was a great blessing to live in Panguitch and had many friends there. 

In 1995, she lost her husband and her beloved seeing eye dog, Misty. Yet she pressed forward. After Van died, she lived alone and took care of herself with the help of many friends. She was able to communicate with friends all over the world through email. She could do many things on her talking computer, which kept her connected to a world she could no longer travel. She loved her callings in the Church, especially being a Gospel Doctrine teacher, and she was a student of the Old Testament. 

Linda loved shopping, listening to books on tape, and attending the temple. She was a wealth of knowledge and loved sharing that knowledge with others. After Linda's dad passed away, her mother came to live with her. It was then that she developed a relationship with Ani. She was grateful for that special time. Linda will be missed by many people. 

She appreciated all the service rendered to her and all the love she was shown throughout her time in Panguitch. Linda was grateful for the care given to her by Dr. Colin Marshall and the staff at the Garfield County Nursing Home.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Max and Ani, her husband, Van, and her beloved service dog Misty.

Graveside Services will be on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 12:00 Noon with Burial in the Panguitch Cemetery.
